About Lusikisiki
Lusikisiki, a trading centre about 40 km North of Port St Johns, derives its name from the Xhosa word for the sound of the wind rustling through the reeds at a nearby marsh and along the rivers in the area. The area between Lusikisiki and the coastal spots of Msikaba and Mbotyi are characterised by spectacular views of natural vegetation and lovely waterfalls.
AmaMpondo History
About 2000 years ago, Bantu-speaking people began to arrive from Western Africa in a series of migrations and amaMpondo were the group of Nguni-speaking peoples who have for several centuries occupied the land between the Tugela River to the north and the Mbashe River to the south and from Indian Ocean to Drakensberg Mountains. Over the years amaMpondo territory is said to be the one between Mtamvuma and Mthatha rivers in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.
